Party at the Tea Factory!

Lemon Curd Cupcakes with Butterfly Tuiles

Gone are the days of booze filled house parties…I opted for a more civilized affair of a Sunday afternoon tea to celebrate my move to Oxford. After taming my imagination (I had to remember that my guests may find my experimental baking a bit too odd) I got down to some industrious baking. After about 4 hrs of solid baking, the house smelt amazing but I was all hot & flustered by the heat of the oven.

The menu:

Wheat-Free & Low Sugar Chocolate Beetroot Brownies with cream cheese frosting & matcha tuile biscuits

Cucumber Sandwhiches,  Mini Muffins (shop bought) and Ginger Marmalade & Strawberry Jam Tartlets

GF Matcha Mulberry Cupcakes and GF Lemon Curd Cupcakes

and gingerbread people…

A few friends came round bearing delicious home baked cookies & we sat around chatting whilst drinking pots of tea. Gingerbread decorating came later on in the afternoon, here are the results!

  1. Those gingerbread men look so great! The tea party was fun, certainly not, as Alice said, the stupidest tea-party I ever was at in all my life!

`Once upon a time there were three little sisters,’ the Dormouse began in a great hurry; `and their names were Elsie, Lacie, and Tillie; and they lived at the bottom of a well–‘

`What did they live on?’ said Alice, who always took a great interest in questions of eating and drinking.

`They lived on treacle,’ said the Dormouse, after thinking a minute or two.

`They couldn’t have done that, you know,’ Alice gently remarked; `they’d have been ill.’

`So they were,’ said the Dormouse; `VERY ill.’
